For the first time in his life, ABAS was free.
The big blue bio-android flashed through the hills and valleys of the Eastern Continent, moving so fast that he was nearly invisible to the untrained eye. He didn't have any particular goal for this outing other than to stretch his legs and see a bit of the world he was supposed to protect, but even the freedom to decide such a thing was intoxicating to him. As much as ABAS loved the knowledge and learning available to him at the Blacksite, the endless testing of every stripe did get a bit tiring after a while. Much better to be out here, learning about the world with my own eyes. At the very least, I won't have to go through the effort of filtering out the failings of human recording like I normally do.
Granted, this "freedom" was very much conditional. ABAS had no doubt that somewhere in the vast warren of the Blacksite, there was a computer tracking his every move. There was probably an entire room full of people ready to activate his kill switch at a moment's notice. However, for the moment, ABAS could ignore such concerns. For the moment, he was free to hunt and roam as he wished. Speaking of hunting ABAS thought, spying a pack of deer in the distance with his enhanced eyesight. I should take this chance to increase by biomass as much as possible while I am unregulated. Blacksite safety protocols hamper my growth too much.
A few light punches and stabs later, and the mangled bodies of the deer lay at his feet. ABAS's tail lashed forward and stabbed one of them in the neck, causing the corpse to shrivel up as its life energy was extracted. ABAS grimaced, "The power gain I gather from non-ki wielders is insufficient. I would need millions of these to match any significant threat. I need to grow faster" He said to himself, thinking of the images of warriors like Quash or Liari. His programming drove him to protect Earth at any cost, but what did that mean if he was but a child in comparison to its attackers? Would he be forced to throw his life away?

On any other day, Liari might've not noticed the bug-man. ...But she was bored... like she was most days... Okay, scrap that introduction. Liari WOULD have noticed the bug-man any other day because she had NOTHING TO DO. Every one of her minions was doing exactly as she had assigned them (for their sake, she hoped so) and she couldn't exactly DO anything FUN and FANTASTICAL until they got back so... here she was, lurking around Earth, scanning it like it was the barren, boring mudhole it wa- HEY, what was that?
A flash of cyan descended upon a helpless woodland creature, its tail JAMMING into its neck like some sort of stinger! The majin, who was hovering well above the landscape, stared in a kind of perverse awe as the figure's body was deflated and SUCKED into the tail's point, completely DRUNK like it was some kind of soda through a straw! Liari blinked, her eyes wide with interest, the smallest flicker of a curious smile dancing across her lips... and did he look familiar... She reminded him of that little purple... THING from when she was a child, this... child-like bug-man-creature that couldn't speak... Maybe they were of the same species...?
How interesting...
"Yes, they are quite pathetic, aren't they...?" A voice echoed through the air! Suddenly a deep blue smiling face would assemble from flashing cubes before the bio-android, them standing nose-to-beak as the majin seemingly stepped out of thin air! Her silver eyes locked with his feral slits... then she blinked, sensing something odd on the wind! This guy's power... It was almost like a dozen different guys stacked on top of each other eminating from THIS creature... and what was more, one she knew... one signature she knew quite well... or at least, thought she did... but from where...? It was so hard to accurately guess with all this... hoopla going on with his power-level!
"Well, aren't YOU the ugliest thing I've seen today," Liari noted dryly at the bio-android's expense. "...and quite... interesting too... Tell me, is that how you eat ALL of your meals, from a tail-straw like that one?" Liari waved an arm dismissively at the creature's appendage. His power was, in fact, almost as pathetic as the creature he ate. Hell, she was even surprised something like this could even SPEAK considering how the last one was! Regardless, if he WAS intelligent... perhaps she had use for him. After all, a giant alien bug might be just what she needed to strike true monster-related terror in the population. Liari, after all, was too cute for such vulgarity.
"You got a name, Buggy? If you don't, I could name you. Make you my pet. Give you aaaaaaaall the animals to drink you could ever waaaaant. Does that sound good to my big, ugly bug?"

ABAS's head snapped around at Liari's words, seeking the source of the noise. He could have sworn he checked the area before attacking the herd! How was it possible that a standard had avoided the detection of him: an evolved being?
As if in answer to his unspoken question, colored cubes emerged from thin air, reassembling themselves like giant building blocks. ABAS felt his heart sink as a face emerged from the multitude: blue skin emerging from the ether to form over an angular face with purple eyes. If he was being honest, most beings of a certain species tended to blend together in his eyes: their differences too slight to make fine distinctions unless he was familiar with them. However, this was a face that had been burned into his retinas since the moment of his awakening, the face that haunted his resting hours with mad cackles and displays of immense power.
ABAS swallowed, feeling the adrenaline beginning to rush through his veins. "Quite..pathetic yes. One wonders how such...creatures manage to survive on this planet...for so long." ABAS rasped, the words starting and stopping as he fought for control. He could almost hear a multitude of voices screaming for the kill, pinging around the inside of his head with insane ferocity. Both the conditioning he was subject to, and the kill-switch warming in his blood demanded he strike out at the Majin, but ABAS knew the moment he did would be the moment he most likely perished. He didn't want to die, not just yet! He had so much left to learn, so much left to grow! Self-preservation warred with duty, and for the moment, self-preservation won out.
ABAS clenched a fist, focusing on the pain rather than the clamor of his soul, "Not that it matters, but beauty and ugliness are immaterial to me. This body is efficient, and that's all that matters." ABAS said, gesturing towards the Majin's headtails. "A standard human or Sayian body has too many weak points. Hair, for example, seems too easily grabbable." He explained, gauging her reaction. It was a calculated risk to risk aggravating the Majin with his (totally justified) points, but necessary. The only route ABAS could see out of this was to simply bore the reputably excitable Majin until she left him alone. He knew that if he was around her for much longer, he would no longer be capable of holding himself back.
"Not all my meals, just when I require the rapid extraction of biomass Madame....." He trailed off in question. ABAS, of course, knew exactly who this Majin was, but he thought it best to at least play at being unaware. Anything to reduce Liari's suspicions of him. "I am called the Automated Bio-Adaptive Sentinel, but you can just call me ABAS. Standards seem to think that is better. Regardless "bug" isn't exactly right. While trace Arcosian genetics make me appear insectoid, that is the extent of their influence." ABAS said, gauging Liari's reaction. Speaking of, what happened to her bio-armor? She looks almost completely different than the reports. In fact, how is she even here? I thought she died in the battle? Did she somehow manage to escape? ABAS thought, his mind racing. He formed and discarded several scenarios, before eventually deciding that he simply needed more data.
"I would never turn down...additional biomass, but I cannot be your 'pet," ABAS said, feeling the last word bite as it left his mouth. This was bad, he could feel his control of his body waning. All it would take was one more push, and he would lose himself to the rage.

Liari had to admit... She WAS taken aback by how articulate this thing was! Indeed, it was the sort of thing one would assume could barely form a chittering replication of common-speech but here it was, conversating as elegantly as she was! He even had THOUGHTS! OPINIONS! WOW, and what else? SARCASTIC MUSINGS! WHY, it might as well be a normal person under all that chitin! Liari couldn't hold back a giggle as the bug-thing commented on the life of the deer, wondering aloud how such a thing survived this long!
"It's a lot like these humans." Liari would remark gesturing all around her as if to encompass the world. "They're weak... but not only that. They're DUMB. Smart enough to build flying cars, ANDROIDS, mech-suits and other things... but noooooot quite smart enough to acknowledge the walking apocalypses that wander among them, hm? One would think they would have gone extinct by now but sooooomehoooow..." Liari tapped her chin with her finger, casting her eyes to the sky in thought. "...There's always some hero out there ready to stick up for 'em... Maybe deer have something like that..."
The creature would then take a moment to dismiss Liari's analysis of his appearance. With a proudness, the being proclaimed that judgments of "ugly" and "pretty" were superfluous at best, that it was function-over-form that mattered most. Liari couldn't help but snicker again, taking a moment to run a finger down the curve of her face, then, somewhat suggestively, to make her point, lightly run it down her side to rest upon her hip!
"Maaaaybe..." Liari purred. "...But it doesn't really hurt to look good if you're able to do so efficiently, right...?" She winked at the bug-thing. She had no idea if he possessed similar modes of attraction as the humans do but why not investigate? She had only ever seen ONE of these things and it was so long ago! AND THIS ONE COULD SPEAK! Clearly, it was more human-like than that other one! ...Or arcosian, as it seemed like ABAS was ready to introduce and explain himself! HE... was a biologically-generated android, essentially a war machine of flesh and bone designed to, apparently, defend... something based on his name. AND HE DID THAT... by drinking heaps of biomass out of creatures. Oh, boy... this thing was gonna be FUN to play with. His phenotype appeared to be heavily influenced by his Frost-Demon genes too, as he explained, giving him an insect-like appearance! Liari nodded... but in all honestly, she was wondering if she herself looked bug-like when she ate those two changling-brothers... She LOVED the power... but not if she was UGLY in the process! ABAS then proclaimed his independence and Liari only smiled.
"You're so brave, Buggy..." Liari snickered, reaching up and patting his head. She then slipped her hand down and cupped is chin in her hand, holding JUST tight enough to let him know he wasn't going anywhere... unless she willed it. "...But I'm afraid you're mine now... Come on, it'll be FUN, I promise! We'll find all kinds of tasty things for you to ea- well... drink! Truuuuust meeeee... I'll make sure you never go hungry, Buggy."

"A fair point. Then again, I suppose you can call the ability to get people to put their lives on the line for them a strength." ABAS pointed out. In his (limited) experience, he found that the humans greatest strength was not their raw power, but their ingenuity and their charisma. After all, how many species could have created him: a perfect platform for genetic evolution beyond that of any single species? That wasn't even mentioning how ingenious (if aggravating) their controls over his actions were.
"I guess not. If it makes the individual feel better about themselves, then it can't hurt." ABAS mused thoughtfully. Poor Liari's attempted flirting seemed to make a loud whooshing sound as it flew over his head. Instead, ABAS was rather confused why Liari was tracing her body's outline. Was this some sort of hand motion to activate a technique? The bio-android cross-referenced the motion with Liari's known attacks, only to come up blank. Maybe whatever she did to either survive or revive herself after Athren may have given her more abilities, or something. ABAS thought, filing the memory away for later reference.
The act of categorization seemed to help with the burning demand for violence. Maybe whatever the Blacksite had done to him allowed for intel-gathering. Maybe it was just coincidence. Either way, ABAS felt himself begin to relax ever so slightly. Maybe this day didn't have to end in violence.
Then, Liari decided to grab his hand.
Almost on instinct, ABAS detached the entire lower half of his face to escape Liari's grasp. According to Blacksite doctrine, any attempt at physical contact with a being that could absorb him on a whim had to be treated as a physical assault. Unfortunately, this also meant that his drive to eliminate Liari began to well up once more, and this time there was no stopping it. Giving in fully to his conditioning, ABAS rapidly transformed his left arm into a large scythe-like blade of chitin, and swept it at Liari's waist even as he leapt backward out of melee range. If Liari was observant, she would notice that the transformation of his arm, and the rapid regeneration of his chin, looked eerily familiar.
"Normally, I would never pass up a free meal. Unfortunately, the 'Sentinel' part in my name is intended for extraplanetary threats to Earth. Threats like you. I can't disobey my creators." ABAS said. Unlike his speech earlier, he was beginning to sound a lot less human-like as his conditioning took more and more control over his consciousness. The inquisitive look in his eyes was beginning to vanish, only to be replaced by a machine-like stare. ABAS began to circle Liari at high speeds, trying his best to stay out of melee range.
Deep within his psyche, however, ABAS had already given up. He knew he had zero chance against this monster. All datums pointed to the fact that in but a few moments, he would be dead.

Eh... What honestly was she expecting? A bug-thing actually having some kind of physical standards...? Let alone those that might conform to any idea of "cuteness" or "beauty?" ...Honestly, she wouldn't be surprised if the only thing this this creature valued was where his next meal was coming from. ...But perhaps this thing wasn't so base, so... simple. In fact, ABAS would outright reject her, calling her a "threat" (as if that was a bad thing) and that he was actually a guardian made for the sole purpose of protecting Earth!
"...Oh. Well, that's boring." Liari grumped, her excitement giving way to disappointment! "...You look so cool so... MENACING... in a b-movie-kinda-way and it's ALLLL gonna be wasted on these poor excuses for people?" Liari waved a hand about as if to encompass humanity. "Really...? Come on, Buggy! Think for yourself! Make the RIGHT decision! Have FUN and stuff!"
...Nah. In fact, ABAS was so adamant to prove his loyalty, his arm would transform into a wicked blade and SLICE at the majin's torso! As if through water, his mutated appendage would SLASH through Liari's flesh, her upper body lifting with the entrance of the blade before PLOPPING back down upon the lower body. In an instant, the line of separation would fuse between the two halves, the majin showing little if ANY notice that she had been sliced!
"Oh. That happened." Liari sighed, rolling her eyes. "...But what was the point of that, REALLY? Come on, Buggy. Even YOU should know that sort of thing doesn't work on me!"
...But ABAS was off to the races already. Literally, he had started running ALL around her, so fast in fact he was becoming a blurred blue whirlwind around the deeper-blue majin! The sound of his footsteps bled into one another, becoming thunderous rumbling that caused loose pebbles and dirt to hover just above the planet's surface! For as impressive as his speed was, though, Liari could track him with LESS than any issue. It was like watching a sluggish fly putter about in the air, moving just fast enough to catch the eye... but not fast enough to be of any interest.
"You know I could just... stick out my leg, right...?" Liari asked, raising her voice above the rumbling of ABAS. "Why are you doing all this? What is it FOR? To scare me? Come on, Buggy! You can do better than that, can't you?" ...Nothing but the harsh pit-pit-patter of the bio-android's feet as he stomped circles around the Majin, healthily out of her unexpended reach. LOOK AT HIM, HE WASN'T EVEN MAKING AN ATTACK... Unless this was it...? Was his intent to make her dizzy or something and get away in the confusion!
...She was gonna assume that was the plan. It was at least... creative...?
Still, true to what she had said, Liari would simply... stick out her foot and have her leg STRETCH out so that it shot in the path of the android's legs! If she managed to trip ABAS and send him tumbling out of his circle, the Majin would just casually stroll after him, stuffing her hands into her baggy-pants pockets!
"Gonna have to move a looooooooot faster than that if you're gonna make me dizzy, Buggy." Liari warned him with a smile. "...And stop panicking. I can smell your defeatism from here! Why don't you go ahead and... do your best to stop me, huh? I'll even give you...." The majin looked down at her hands, slowly and deliberately counting on her fingers. "...Five chances. You get Five WHOLE chances to hit me! Come on then, Buggy! Shoe me your true power!"

“I don’t have a choice, regardless of whether you saw me in a bee movie.” ABAS said simply, grimacing at the failed attack. The speed gap is too large. I need to make her underestimate me if I have any chance at landing a significant attack. The bio-android thought. He took a few seconds as he circled the majin to rapidly generate and discard plans until he came up with a passable tactic. The Blacksite would never approve of the failure rating on this. He thought to himself, finding the thought….funny? Darkly amusing? ABAS couldn’t quite pin down the emotion. He filed it away to analyze later. “I was designed to eventually kill you. Either you die, or I perish to my fail-safes. Thinking for myself simply isn’t an option.” Of course, the vast majority of ABAS’s thoughts were consumed by the fight at hand. ABAS tuned out Liari’s mocking, focusing instead on her movements. True to his expectations, her eyes followed this level of speed without much issue. It was not like he had expected for her to have that much issue with his top speed, but that was never the point in the first place. He NEEDED Liari to move, to fight. This was perhaps his one and only chance to observe his donor in live combat, and he needed to acquire as much data as possible. After all, what was the point of having Majin genes if one didn’t know how to exploit them to their fullest? Slowly, a subtle red glow began to ignite in the bio-android’s right eye…..
Unfortunately, his logical plan had one major downside. A downside that was made manifest as Liari lengthened her leg to unnatural lengths, tripping him far faster than even his Cerelian-level perceptions could follow. Like some character out of a cartoon, ABAS was sent flying, bouncing and rolling over the rocky terrain. What was perhaps less comical was the horrifically broken ankle that pierced his outer chitin. “Not ideal.” ABAS muttered, slicing the foot off and letting it regrow to full functionality. It would have been more energy efficient to simply let it heal, but he didn’t have the time.
True to form, Liari strolled up a few seconds later, self-satisfaction and condensation practically dripping from her words. “Quite generous for a supervillain.” ABAS jabbed, the taunt coming off hollow due to the lack of emotion. ABAS made to slowly stand, his eyes on Liari all the time. Halfway through the motion however, a spear of chitin borne of the bio-android’s own flesh erupted from his knee, aiming to stab Liari in the chest before snapping off! The bio-android then flared his ki as high as it would go and launched himself at Liari. ABAS unleashed a salvo of (painfully telegraphed) punches and kicks. He even tried to work in a few surprise tail stabs and chitin spurs like the one he had made previously. “A query. Are we calling each attempt a chance? Or merely each attempted strike?”

Liari gasped at ABAS' revelation: That he was designed to kill her! ...But it wasn't from shock, not the bad kind. Liari's eyes widened, her lips curling into a WIDE, toothy smile, sparkles of excitement dancing across her eyes!
"REALLY!?" She asked, bobbing up and down! "YOU ARE!? THEY FINALLY DECIDED TO DO SOMTHING!?" The sinister, world-destroyed, ALMIGHTY MAJIN sounded more like a child being introduced to the latest and greatest toy on the market rather than a truly fearsome destroyer. From the way she bobbed on her heels and the squeak in her voice, it was almost as if the little girl Liari had used to be was coming out in full for the first time. "I ALWAYS wanted something like you~! Everyone is ALWAYS so scared, so self-righteous, always taking pot-shots from SOOOOO far away! But not you, Buggy! Not you! You're actually MADE to fight me, a rival right out of the vat! I can always rely on you to fight me, right?"
...And then ABAS tripped on a leg and nearly lost his own. The bug-creature went SPIRALING into the rubble in a cataclysmic display, his leg practically broken off at the ankle! Liari blinked, surprised how... quickly she incapacitated him, Liari walking up to him and standing over the creature!
"Yeah... 'Not Ideal' I right..." Liari mused, raising a tentacle up. "Wanna see if I can fix it? I can probably fix it..." ...Then ABAS lopped off his wounded limb and SPROUTED a new one! Granted, it looked much more... difficult than Liari herself was capable of, but he WAS capable of sprouting limbs! How FUN! They'd be able to play even LONGER this way! Liari would then make her offer: She would give him FIVE full attacks to do with as he wished! Impalements, headbutts... WHATEVER... And ABAS seemed to appreciate it! EVEN BETTER...
...And then Liari's eye twitched. She looked down... and there was a giant spike stabbed into her chest!
"Ow." She said... before stepping back out of the spike. In an instant, her chest swelled until the wound puckered shut before shrinking back down to its original size, the wound having disappeared! Ah, but ABAS wasn't yet done! His blows, telegraphed as they were, SLAMMED into the majin in a slow, yet respectable barrage, even throwing in some pointy chitinous burrs and tail-stings! Each blow impacted Liari enough that the ground beneath them TREMBLED... even if Liari herself did not, the majin barely even shifting with each attack. Liari mused if she should count all of these as one attack... or many. Coincidentally, ABAS had the same thought as, just as his fist SMASHED into Liari's cheek, he questioned what Liari's decision would be!
"Well..." Liari spoke around the fist pressing into her cheek! "...That spike counted as one... I'll count this thing..." She pointed at the fist in her face. "...As the second... You got three more to go! Let me have it! Try to kill me!"

ABAS was beginning to lose himself.
The psychic shackles that bound his mind usually didn't intrude into his mind. After all, the bio-android didn't see much point in disobeying his creators when they held so much power over him. Without the appropriate set of circumstances, the shackles would never activate, allowing him some degree of autonomy.
Now though, he could feel prying fingers wrenching his personality out, smoothing over his consciousness with a veneer of cold logic. In the beginning, ABAS could fight it: preserve some aspects of himself alongside the cold calculus of a machine. Now though, he had repeatedly failed to terminate his destined foe making the drive to kill Liari nearly overpowering. ABAS wasn't sure what concerned him more in the moment: Liari, or the death of his mind. Either way, I need to focus on the plan. The only way out of either danger is to find an opening.
Despite their conflict, both halves of mind reeled at Liari's words. ABAS's eyes widened in shock. Was the Majin actually....excited that he was purpose-built to end her? He had imagined this meeting over and over in his head. He had expected Liari to show anger, arrogance, disbelief that the "puny" Earthlings would ever challenge her. But this? This....joy over the prospect of someone who could eventually match her? ABAS simply didn't understand. COULD not understand.
"....Affirmative. As long as we both live, I will seek you out time after time." ABAS clicked, the words distorting with his high speed movements. "This is the will of my creators, and therefore my will." ABAS paused, his psyche rejoining for a moment out of sheer curiosity. "Though...you were not expected to be happy about that...." He said, his voice sounding a little more "human-like" for a moment.
ABAS frowned internally as his best assault, honed by months of practice....did absolutely nothing. Sure, a large chunk of it could be chalked up to the Majin's innate regen, but most of his attacks barely seemed to bother Liari. It was like he was hitting a wall rather than a person, all the while knowing that the wall could teleport away easily if it chose! Worst of all, Liari had apparently decided that five hits meant five FREE hits, denying ABAS the chance to copy her movements. Still, while the lack of opportunity to observe Liari was....unfortunate, that didn't mean he was totally out of options. No, he still had a plan. It just needed a few more touches until he could maneuver Liari into the correct position. It's possible her regeneration works like the ABAS projects'. If she doesn't have access to a large chunk of her biomass....
To that end, ABAS retreated a few paces, gaining a foot or two of ground. He then once more morphed his arm into a length blade, repeating his earlier maneuver of trying to cut Liari in half at the waist! This time however, he was focusing all of his perceptions on Liari's body instead of focusing his ki into the attack. If Liari tried the same splitting maneuver as last time, he would kick off the ground at full speed, and try to tackle her upper half before it could combine with the rest of her, and retreat a fair distance besides! If this was successful, he would simply rain blows down on the upper half, doing his level best to pound it into the dirt!
Whether the plan worked or not, ABAS was still strangely curious of Liari's intentions. "I am grateful for your patience, but why give me any chances at all? Wouldn't it be better for you to snuff out my 'threat' immediately?"

"'Strange?' You kidding? This is great!" Liari proclaimed in response to ABAS' confusion! "You have NO idea how boring it gets around here! Everyone is always running away, screaming, never really trying... They all act like its more of a CHORE to fight me than it really is! Now I have YOU!" Liari opened her hands wide, gesturing to the bug man! "You actually WANNA fight me! I dunno if you'll understand this, but that means a LOT to me!"
ABAS would then SHOOT BACK and LUNGE for the Majin, his arm morphing into a blade! In a flash, his edged limb would slice RIGHT through the Majin again, her upper body lifting ever so slightly from her lower! Thinking that this would go down the same as last time, the majin already began stitching herself back together... only to suddenly find herself on the ground with BIG buggy fists BEATING DOWN INTO HER FACE! ABAS had tackled her to the ground and was taking shot after shot at Liari, taking the time between each punch to question her! ABAS' fists rebounded off Liari's rubbery flesh harmlessly, much in contrast to the ground exploding around them! Even as the bio-android's knuckles crashed across her jaw, Liari couldn't help but grin with child-like whimsy!
"Why NOT ? I-" Liari questioned... before a punch JERKED her head to the side! "I wanted something like this! Someone who wants to fight! Say-" Another punch. "Saiyans... Changelings... Supposedly ALL fighters but they all whine and cry when I show up! You're a GO-GETTER and bett-" Punch. "...Better, you're made for me! To FIGHT ME! Even KILL me! That means I can rely on you to keep getting stronger, right?"
ABAS cocked back another fist only for Liari's hand to shoot up and catch it as it came down!
"Sorry, boy-o... But you're free-trial has expired."
...Suddenly a shadow would fall over ABAS' back. If he turned around, he would see a lower torso towering over him... its leg cocked back. A black-booted leg would SWING around, aiming to CRACK the bio-android across the face and send him rolling back into the sand! If she succeeded, the upper half of the majin would spring into the air, reattaching with its lower half before Liari spun lightly on her toes to face ABAS again!
"You're not a 'threat,' Buggy! You're part of a GAME! My game! And we're gonna have so much fuuuuuun~!" To emphasize her point, Liari would hold her hands out in front of her, wrists lightly pressed together.
"Kaaaa...." She rumbled quietly, cupping her palms behind her! "Meeeeeee.... Haaaaaaaa... Meeeeeee..." Liari would stare at ABAS expectantly, eyes and grin wide, glancing between him and the hands she held behind her as if... as if she WANTED him to copy her!
"HAAAAAAA!" Liari threw her hands forward as a dark blue energy beam escaped her palms, powerful enough to make someone of ABAS' tier of power sweat... but nothing impossible for him to overcome!

"For warriors that claim to live for battle, I agree that it is quite strange than only a handful ever tried to stop you. While such survival instinct is admirable, it doesn't clear them of responsibility." ABAS rasped. He threw an arm wide as if to gesture at the world. "That is why I was born. To pick up the slack, to give Earth a defender that will never retreat, never falter due to morals or cowardice. The perfect guard dog." He paused, "Though if I'm being honest, both the perspective of those fighters, and your own equally fail to make sense. What is the point in fighting for fighting's sake? Are you just fighting and killing just for amusement?" ABAS questioned. He didn't know why this kept bothering him. Its not like Liari's answer mattered all that much: he would still try his best to kill her if she killed for the noblest of reasons. And yet something kept....bothering him about the situation. It was like an ITCH he couldn't scratch, a puzzle he couldn't solve. Was he merely curious about his enemy's motivations? Or did Liari's desires....make him question about his own?
Surprisingly, despite ABAS's rare showing of confusion, the plan went off without a hitch. His arm blade once again tasted nothing but air, but it was never intended to. He relished the look of slight surprise on Liari's face as he did his level best to beat the Majin into paste. His ki roiled uncontrollably as he launched punch after punch at the Majin, nearly breaking his fists on Liari's diamond-like skin. The mere aftershocks of his strikes cracked and cratered the ground, but Liari looked no worse for wear! Still, the feeling of actually getting the best of Liari surged through ABAS's very soul. It was an odd feeling of...completion. Like if a hammer could feel satisfied securing a nail. ABAS had never felt like this before. Was this what Liari meant? The simple joy of doing exactly what you were built to do?
Nevertheless, he still had to be vigilant. ABAS's glowing right eye continued to shine down on his foe, probing for weaknesses. As expected, Liari's physical ability is simply astounding. Durability, speed, strength, she simply has no weaknesses. And she doesn't even have to exert that much ki to do so! ABAS thought, eyes shining as he did his best to memorize the patterns of Liari's ki flow. While he did so, Liari revealed her own reasons for her excitement. "I appreciate the compliments. Rest assured, I was built the strongest cells of any fighter who has visited Earth in the last twenty five years. No normal being can hope to match my potential. While I am little match for you now, that will change." ABAS said honestly. It wasn't a matter of arrogance or conceit: merely a fact. Kami, the damage he sustained from this fight alone would probably catapult him far above his current power. ABAS could only imagine what would happen if he managed to get his hands on a sufficiently powerful source of ki. Power was but his birthright.
Sadly, the bio-android's focus and analysis once again got the better of him. He was so focused on their discussion and Liari's ki flow that he had disregarded her discarded lower half. ABAS's vision swam as Liari's boot slammed into the base of his skull, sending him flying into a nearby rock formation. The sheer force of the blow shattered the rocks into powder, causing the entire thing to collapse on top of him!
There was a few seconds of silence, and then a MASSIVE explosion of lime-green ki as ABAS powered up. Small pieces of slate and stone whirled around him at insane speeds, slicing into anything that stood in their path. ABAS himself glared at Liari, scrapes and cuts rapidly healing with the surge of renewed ki. "I am not a match for you, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop either. I will make you see me as a threat one way or another! Let us play." He said challengingly, attempting to focus his energy to a point. Four ki spheres materialized between his fingers, shining in reds in reds and blues. Liari would notice that, while ABAS's power output was impressive for his power level, it was unsteady. Instead of the steady rise that SHOULD accompany this kind of technique, ABAS's ki was all over the place. The spheres grew to the size of a soccer ball, then shrank to the size of a golf ball. If this kept up, it was doubtful whether ABAS would even get the technique off.
But then, ABAS stopped.
Liari's movements were...odd. They were exaggerated, almost laughably slow. Was she....trying to teach him? ABAS was in sheer disbelief. Who IS Liari? She not only relishes in meeting her born assassin, but is actually trying to teach me! ABAS thought. Well, he wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth. And while he couldn't copy Liari's technique (yet), the flow of her ki (via his Cerelian right eye) was definitively something he could learn from. A long moment passed as ABAS stared across the plain at Liari, before letting out an excited hiss. "So it's like that! It's so simple!" He said, rare excitement leaking into his voice.
In an heartbeat, ABAS's aura shrank to a third of it's former size. And yet, not only did ABAS not fall in power, he actually grew MUCH stronger in an instant! ABAS had not grown at all in raw ki reserves, but his strength was night and day compared to before!
"EVOLVED BIO-BOMBER!" With a shout, ABAS threw his hands forward. Four ki spheres combined into one, growing into a crackling ki sphere the size of a small building! The Evolved Bio-Bomber raced forward, smashing headlong into Liari's attack. For the moment, they seemed even. ABAS threw his entire might into the energy sphere, feeling the Kamehameha start to give....

"The point??" Liari laughed. "The 'point' is that fighting is FUN! You know, 'fun?' F-U-N? The sort of stuff that gets you moving in the morning?" The Majin looked ABAS up and down as if observing some kind of abstract insectoid work of art. "...You understand that, right? There's no way they would make some kind of 'guardian' for this dirtball if you didn't! Killing, death, it's all a just a consequence of what we're really here for: a good time! Sometimes stuff gets broken when you play! You'll get it, I'm sure!"
...And that's really all there was too it. From the moment she woke up on this planet, Liari had found no more fun than in the act of fighting. It was as if the sport was made for her, the clashing of powers making for the most engaging of games! Heck, if your opponent allowed it, it didn't even need to BE all combat! Sometimes, it could just be games WITHIN games! When she had absorbed those Saiyans, though... that was when her enjoyment turned into an obsession. Her blood HUNGERED for battle, ANY battle, just so long as she could have FUN with it. Everyone was afraid of her now, crying under their beds when she walked into a room. There was no FUN in beating up cowards, not when she didn't have anything personal against them, anyway. Humans, Changelings, other Majin and... Saiyans all fled when they saw her, afraid that they'd die.
'Oh, come ON!' She'd say stamping her foot in frustration. 'What's life without a little risk!? Pull up your big-girl panties and fight me already!' ...Silence. It boiled Liari's blood to no end... Literally. Liari had gone to the darkest of places for the longest of times, her mind fixated on the possibility of satisfaction through vindictive revenge. If she couldn't FIGHT these idiots conventionally, she'd draw them out. She'd pop their little cities one by one until the ashes of their friends and families flushed them out of their holes.
OH! AND THEN, they only show up when she STARTED doing that. Liari couldn't tell if she was to be relieved or frustrated at the time. ...But she got her battle... for all of two seconds before it was interrupted. ...And then she died... and all she had on her mind was revenge... Until now, anyway.
ABAS, for all intents and purposes, was different than the average fighter. Unlike them, who were programed by biology to LIVE, more or less, ABAS' primary function seemed to be to kill her. Good. That meant there was hope. Like Liari who was now driven to FIGHT stuff, ABAS was driven to fight HER. He even said that he had her cells (by implication), catching the Majin's interest even further! Although his current appearance left much to be desired, she DID believe him when he said his potential was unmatched. He WAS another version of her, after all, perhaps, if one stretched the definition, another offspring like Terra! He had hope... even if he was an ugly buggy.
"I believe you!" Liari assured, staring up at the bio-android with hope! "You have my cells... You have my power! It's all about getting you to reach it! Let's find it together!"
Liari's Black Kamehameha SLAMMED into ABAS' 'Evolved Bio-Bomber' like a massive spear SMASHING into a boulder. The overwhelming size of ABAS' attack would have struck FEAR into the hearts of the most... but all Liari could do was laugh! YES, she was holding back just about EVERY drop of power she had. YES, this would have been SO MUCH BETTER if ABAS was even remotely on her level! YES, she would LOVE to unleash her full potential now and SMASH the planet between herself and an equal...
...But the hope that ABAS might one day make it there... drew out a bit of that excitement. She COULD have fun, even if she was fighting a weakling. Liari felt her own beam waver against ABAS' building-sized sphere. At this current level, it wouldn't last very long. For a half-second, the Majin considered putting in a drop more power just to remind her buggy-buddy who was REALLY in control here... But then she shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. Nah. That wouldn't be fair. She read once that Earth-animals who playfight lose interest if they lose too much or too hard. Maybe it was the same for bugs! And so, Liari grinned as ABAS' bio-bomber ROLLED over Liari's attack, the ball falling upon her and EXPLODING in a brilliant, land-quaking flash of light!
When the smoke cleared, Liari stood in her firing pose... twitching slightly, her left arm having been melted into a deformed mass of blue goop! burn-marks arched up that arm and across the left-side of the Majin's face, her eye seared shut and her lips curled into a snarl of pained displeasure. ...Yeah, she maybe should have raised her power at the last moment... It would have spared her the consequences. It had been some time since Liari had been actually hurt, at least in a way that didn't come from someone LEAGUES above her station. It was both a FRUSTRATING... yet satisfying sensation. She could actually FEEL the passion behind that attack, not just see it. Her melting arm was, she decided, confirmation of her decision. With a GRUNT, Liari's arm reconstituted, bracer and all, the burn-marks on her body fading away in an instant. Her smile returned in force as she brought her hands together in applause, praising the bio-android for all of his efforts!
"Good... GOOD! I like this! You're really living up to your hype, Buggy!" Liari cheered! "It's so strange that it's only just NOW, with someone who really can't even BEGIN to guess my full power, that I'm starting to have FUN for once! It's... like... backwards. But in a good way, I assure you! Now... Was that your strongest blast, or do you have more? Look inside yourself, Buggy... I want you to hit me as HARD as you can!"

Liari fought for the joy of the fight.
ABAS didn't know why he had expected something different. Something....grander. It meshed perfectly with what he was beginning to gather of the Majin's personality. To Liari, fighting was both the grandest game in existence, and an all-consuming drive. Honestly, we probably aren't that different on a psychological level. Not that I would let that stop me from smashing her into jelly at the first opportunity of course. ABAS thought, eyeing his giggling foe. She is driven to fight and enjoy herself in much the way I am to improve myself and kill her. It is just that her drive is born of her own desires, whereas mine was given to me.
And that was the crux of the matter. ABAS hadn't been interested in Liari's motivations out of idle curiosity, As immoral and casualty-causing as her goal was, it was something she pursued for herself. WANTED for herself. The reason she was able to shrug off the slaughter of so many sentients with but a shrug was because it was all, in the end, in pursuit of her self-determined goals. Ergo, I was drawn to her. Because, after all
I don't have that
It was a realization that struck ABAS with almost physical force, so much so that the logic-self receded back into the depths of his soul for a moment. Sure, he had idle WANTS. Satisfying his curiosity. Growing his control of his strength and ki. Even his drive to absorb sentients could be considered a want. But in the end, all of that meant nothing if he didn't have some tangible GOAL to push toward. What was his purpose in existing outside of bowing to the Blacksite out of necessity? Could his life truly have so little purpose? What was he missing?
ABAS was silent for a long moment, the sides of his mind warring as he struggled to respond to Liari's question. "I understand on a logical level. But fighting for the joy of combat....does not make sense to me. Isn't fighting a means to an end? Not the end itself?" ABAS asked, his voice alternating between machinelike and human. "I must of course kill you to protect Earth. Such is my purpose. But I must ask, why bother to kill and destroy Earthlings? It seems illogical to stoke hatred among those who could never stop you in the first place?"
The torrent of unfamiliar feelings was so intense that ABAS almost felt relief at Liari's brazen challenge. So she had guessed at his true nature. ABAS considered it for a moment, before mentally shrugging. Ultimately, it didn't matter that Liari knew. If she had any ability to take him over, she would do it in their final fight regardless. The only edge he lost with her knowing was the element of surprise. Annoying, perhaps, but not critical.
"And the day that I surpass you, will be the day of your doom." ABAS pronounced, folding his arms over his chest.
Surprisingly, that little bit of grandstanding was actually not immediately disproven. The Evolved Bio-Bomber was nothing like before. His revelations about ki control had boosted it's power absurdly above what any prior test had allowed him to do. That, combined with how much Liari must have been holding back, allowed ABAS to succeed.
ABAS clicked his beak as the smoke cleared, revealing a heavily-damaged Liari. "I must thank you Liari, even though you are my enemy." ABAS said, clenching his fist as his crackling green aura snapped into existence around him. What was previously an insubstantial, flickering think roared into existence around him. It was nothing compared to Liari's own might of course, but neither was it weak for those on his tier of power. "I would never have grown this much if you hadn't shown me. To think, controlling my ki was this simple the whole time." He said wonderingly. What could he do now, if he survived this. This control over ki. The Zenkai that he could already feel in his cells. With enough time to train, perhaps fighting at Liari's tier wasn't that far off after all.
ABAS watched as Liari casually regenerated her injuries, cheering him on of all things. He shook his head, "I don't know whether to feel gratified that you are acknowledging my efforts at killing you, or to be insulted that you merely consider them fun. Rest assured, I am not out of power yet. Far from it in fact." ABAS finished, trusting, for the moment, in his gut-instinct. Liari wants a challenge. She won't alpha-strike me while I can still provide entertainment. Which means the plan might work after all. All that's required now is...
ABAS's aura roared forth this more, ripping at the air with talons of energy. The air began to smell of ozone as he adopted the same stance as before, generating another set of four ki orbs. This time, however, he didn't immediately throw them foward, instead extending his hands to his far left and right. Lines of greens and blues raced across his skin, concentrating at his hands where they poured into the orbs. They slowly grew larger, and larger, until they rapidly began to surpass the level of his previous attack. All the while, ABAS stood in the midst of his own glory, thinking hard. With my new abilities, I could surpass this. I can push the Bio-Bomber even further with a little realignment of the ki flow. Probably double the power output at the very least. I wonder what I'll be capable of with flight and proper ki-sensing capabilities...

"UH-UH-UH!" Liari tsk'ed as ABAS questioned her motive. She wagged her finger at the Bioandroid. "Fighting is the means. FUN is the ends. I fight because it's FUN. If it wasn't FUN, I wouldn't do it. See?" Liari cocked her head. Could this thing really be biological...? Was there a thing in the world that didn't understand recreation, the stuff that makes life... well... ALIVE? Well, ABAS would then go on to question WHY Liari felt the way she did about humans, why she bared such a negative opinion of them if they were so far below her. The Majin's eyes narrowed, her expression darkening substantially for the first time since she met ABAS.
"...I hate them because they choose to be that way." Liari growled, her silver eyes flashing red. "...Look at them, ABAS. So small, so weak, so STUPID. AND FOR NO GOOD REASON!" Steam EXPLODED out of the holes lining the majin's arms, the ground around her suddenly EXPLODING with the sound of her scream! "THEY ARE SURROUNDED BY GIANTS THAT COULD KILL THEM ALL WITH A THOUGHT! THEY SEE DISASTERS LIKE ME..." Liari waved at herself. "...EVERY DAY AND THEY JUST SIT THERE AND TAKE IT! I HAVE SEEN WHAT HUMANS CAN DO WHEN THEY TRY, ABAS. THEY NEVER 'NEEDED' YOU, NOT THE WAY THEY PROGRAMMED YOU. IF THEY TRIED, THEY COULD ALL BE WORLDS STRONGER THAN THEY ARE NOW BUT THEY JUST SIT THERE... AND DIE! OR HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO THEIR DIRTY WORK FOR THEM!" ABAS would then point out how illogical it is to resent them and Liari only smiled cruelly. "I don't expect you to understand yet. You're young, aren't you? Just a few weeks old or something? You haven't really hated anyone, haven't had the chance. If you ever do, let me know why you hate them then ask me again if it's 'illogical.'"
ABAS would then take his moment to declare that he WOULD kill Liari one day when he got on her level, that he WOULD abide by his programming! Liari only smiled sharply.
"Why, ABAS... that's what I want." The Majin snickered. "The best part about you is that I don't have to worry about you succumbing to apathy! You got this... TICK in your head, right? Something installed by your flesh-bag overseers? 'Kill me, kill me, kill me.' That's what it sounds like right? I bet it BLARES in your head when I'm right in front of you, huh? Then I can trust you to grow... to face me, to give me the fight I want with none of the emotional baggage! We can have FUN, ABAS! Isn't that great?" ...Of course, Liari knew something ABAS didn't: The Majin was immortal in a roundabout way. Death could not hold her, not for very long. She was stronger than 99% of Hell and smarter than the gods that ruled it. She commanded MAGIC that could tear the fabrics of the dimensions themselves and walk through them as if they were doors. She was a GOD, for all intents and purposes... so of course Death wouldn't stick on the off-chance ABAS delivered on his threat.
After their exchange of blasts which Liari was rendered the loser, ABAS would take this moment to thank the Majin despite their adversarial status! Liari grinned and began to nod... then shook her head slowly.
"Not 'enemies.'" Liari asserted, spreading her arms wide. "That implies I want you dead or something! No. I want YOU, ABAS! Programming or not, there doesn't have to be any distaste between us! In fact, let's use that to make something nice! You can do that, right?" ABAS would then muse about this, unsure how to feel. "...I'd hope you feel happy that I like you and fully support you in your goals." The Majin offered with a wink. "...I mean, you don't HAVE to treat this so seriously, you know. It's not like your life DEPENDS on this. Sure, you might have a tedious tick in your brain... but I think I can feel there's more than that in you... aaaaaa... HUNGER for more. I could give you that, if you want."
...In response, ABAS' power exploded, surging and condensing into larger, denser spheres that circled the Bioandroid! Sighing, uncertain if she had gotten through to the creature, Liari would simply raise a finger, the tip glowing with a golden energy sphere! Lightning crackled at her fingertip, surging around the energy-sphere as it grew brighter and more powerful!
"Programming isn't all there is, my dear assassin." Liari cooed. "...What do YOU want...?"

ABAS of course understood the concept of fun and recreation. His little rebellions in pursuit of knowledge were evidence of that. There was no logical reason for him to know why crops grew, or how the stars he would never touch moved in the sky. Such things were entirely immaterial to his mission. And yet...there was enjoyment in learning about them. Maybe he unconsciously sought such things to give himself some reason to keep going, even before the events of today bared the hole in his soul to the world. Or maybe he was looking too deep into things. Either way, ABAS didn't see any point in grilling Liari even further about her purpose. Who was he to question the drive of another, when he didn't have one for himself?
No, what was far more important was what Liari revealed during her fit. Initially, ABAS was unmoved by her fury, merely bracing himself against Liari's almost physical anger. To ABAS, Liari's argument seemed entirely based on the fact that civilians refused to rise up against her when she desired battle. Honestly, it didn't matter to him either way whether humans were go-getters or completely fell into sloth. His duty given to him by the Blacksite was to protect Earth and its people: the contract written into his very mind and cells. Besides, he had first hand experience that there were many humans who actively fought to change fate. Every member of the Blacksite had taken their lives in their hands during his creation. The failsafes could have very easily failed to take. For the squishy humans, his awakening would have meant death for them in that state. And yet they did it anyway. To protect their home.
That was why when Liari implied that the humans "never needed him", ABAS simply shook his head. "You must be mistaken! If the humans could ever approach my potential, why even create me in the first place? If that was true....I would have no purpose!" ABAS said, the barest trace of hesitation in his tone. His pupils were beginning to return to his eyes as his "kill-mode" was challenged more and more by this conversation. She has to be lying. Yes..that's it. Liari is simply trying to throw me off balance. I just need to treat this like I would any other kind of psychological attack. ABAS thought, crossing his slender arms. "I see. This must be some kind of trick. You are trying to make me doubt my programming to create hesitation in my attacks! That will not dissuade me from killing you!" ABAS shouted, completely ignoring the fact that absolutely none of that made sense. He went so far as to push his ki output high enough that it began to create physical cracks in his exoskeleton! They were of course healed in a heartbeat, but it was clear the bio-android was growing desperate.
In the midst of this, ABAS nodded his head jerkily at Liari's excitement, "Precisely. Rest assured Liari, neither my creators nor I are idealistic children. You kill because it is in your nature to seek battle. Likewise, my mind and body push me to get stronger for the express purpose of killing you, and threats like you. I could not stop growing stronger if I tried. Maybe some of the more emotional of my masters would lecture you over your killings, but I prefer just to skip to the point. I desire a fight to the death. Pure and simple."
It was exactly as Liari said. ABAS could not even say he hated Liari. When he was fully consumed by his programming, he tried to kill her with every fibre of his being. But that was in the same way a broom was wholly dedicated to the act of cleaning. A tool had no emotion about its target, and neither did ABAS.
"Well aren't we a happy little family." ABAS snarked, the machine-like tone almost adding to the sarcasm. "But sadly, as I have mentioned, I am required to try to kill you with everything I am. If I do not, they will simply flip a switch, and I will cease to be. It will be...messy. And therefore un-ideal for the both of us." ABAS explained through a gritted beak. The sheer amount of ki he was harnessing in this moment exceeded anything he had tried before, and his exoskeleton creaked and cracked with the strain. Almost time. This will be my last chance. It needs to work perfectly. I don't know what will happen if this conversation goes for much longer. He thought, glancing at Liari one last time.
"I want to kill you, Other than that, I truly do not know what I want."
A mere heartbeat after that revelation, ABAS would let loose an unearthly screech: not physically, but telepathically! A noise like a million nails scrapping down a million chalkboards struck out at Liari's mind, hopefully distracting her for a critical moment or two.
While this was happening, ABAS would raise his hands to the sky, his aura screaming. The catalyst spheres twined around his hands before slamming together into a sphere only about the size of a small car. It was much, much smaller than the previous Bio-Bomber, but all the stronger because of it.
Without a word, ABAS hurdled it forth at Liari, before speeding backwards with everything he had. He even went so far as to temporarily shed his outer shell, leaving behind enough ki to hopefully make it appear like his main body. If the gambit was successful, he would then reappear behind the Majin with a punch aimed at the base of her skull...
